Advertisements

Fiordland is the best place to hike in New Zealand, with 3 of New Zealand’s 9 Great Walks located right on Fiordland Lodge’s door step.

Base yourself at Fiordland Lodge for a few days and enjoy guided day walks with the local guiding company Trips & Tramps, on the Routeburn, Milford and Kepler Tracks. Each of these walks covers a different, unique environment. So slow down, explore this World Heritage Area by foot and enjoy the wilderness on your own terms. Choose just one day walk or do all 3 with a Great Walk Package, scheduled or private options are available so please inquire.

MILFORD TRACK

Spend a morning walking on the Milford Track, described as the ‘finest walk in the world’. Characterised by lush flora which thrives in this wet environment, enjoy vibrant mosses and lichens, wild ferns and large canopy trees which tower above. Our half way point is the scenic Giant Gate Waterfall best viewed from the expansive swing bridge. We complete your experience with a boat cruise on Milford Sound to view the magnificent Mitre Peak, one of New Zealand ionic land features.

ROUTEBURN TRACK

The Routeburn Track is a hike located in the main mountain divide. A steady climb brings us to Key Summit, which offers incredible views of the deep glacial-carved valleys and the expansive mountain range extending as far as the eye can see. On Key Summit explore the unique alpine herb- field and lakes with your experienced nature guide, and enjoy lunch in a classic New Zealand tramping hut nestled alongside a scenic lake.

KEPLER TRACK

The Kepler Track is best explored with a heli-hike from Fiordland Lodge. Fly to Mount Luxmore and land in an alpine tussock gully near the summit. With your experienced nature guide hike to the top or discover the unique alpine plants. Enjoy unrivaled views of the surrounding wilderness before descending to the sandy beach of Lake Te Anau and your return water taxi to conclude the walk
